Sunglasses and salami

I spend a lot of my day dreaming about sunnier climates. That’s probably something to do with the fact that I live in Scotland, which whilst it’s renowned for its beauty, it’s infamous for its weather. Well, let’s put it this way, you wouldn’t plan anything around the weather in this part of the UK as chances are it would do exactly the opposite of what you hoped it would do.
The weather in Italy, however, is far more reliable. With guaranteed blue skies and sun shining hard on the picture-postcard landscape, it’s a pretty perfect holiday destination. But not just because of its good weather; Italy has great food, lively culture and style, all of which, in my opinion, make this country one of the best places in the world to visit.
Since I never need much of an excuse for my mind to wander onto holidays, when I heard about James Villas #SummerLove campaign, I couldn’t help but get involved. It gave me the perfect opportunity to wade through my holiday pictures and pick a favourite holiday memory, and to be honest there was little contest.
Nothing will beat the day when Rob and I drove from Montepulciano to Siena in a Fiat 500 with handpicked supplies from the region for our very own picnic.

We drank wine from Montepulciano out of plastic cups. We ate pecorino cheese from Pienza, its birthplace, we picked up salami and bread from a local delicatessen and we had the best cannolis we’ve ever tasted. We ate all of this as the sun turned from yellow to pink over the Tuscan hills and planned the rest of our lives together. That was until we both couldn’t stop giggling at the fact that I somehow managed to get salami on my sunglasses. How I did that, I will never know but we still laugh about it now.

Do you have a favourite holiday memory? I would love to hear about it!
