You can win chocolate just by reading this post

I woke up today filled with the levels of excitement normally reserved for Christmas morning. No, I haven’t gone mad, and I’m certainly not having a practice run for 25 December. So let me tell you why I am so jovial. It’s because today, my friends, is the start of Chocolate Week. A whole week dedicated to celebrating that most wonderful of sweet treats. Seven days where it is perfectly legitimate to eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now who’s with me?

There’s no national holiday to celebrate chocolate week – this really needs to change – and there’s no Santa Claus-like character that will leave chocolate by your bed, but there are many, many places in Edinburgh that know a thing or two about chocolate. But where do you start? Fret not dear readers, I’m about to share a little tool with you that will help you out.

Using the MyMap function on Google Maps, I’ve put together a chocolate map, with a few places in Edinburgh that really hit the chocolate spot. From hot chocolate to cupcakes, gelato and, of course, good old-fashioned bars of the stuff, this map leads to chocolate heaven, I promise.

Win yourself a whole lot of chocolate goodness

And it keeps getting better. You can win some fantastic chocolate goodies from Coco Chocolate, just for writing a review on Google+ Local. We want to hear all about your favourite places to indulge in chocolate throughout the city. Whether it be dark, white, milk, flavoured, whipped or truffled, the good folks of Edinburgh want to hear about it. The winner will get their hands on an incredible Coco Chocolate hamper, and four runners-up will also get rewarded for their chocolate know how, just for telling us about your favourite Edinburgh chocolate spots.

To enter, follow this link and sign into your Google account. You’ll then be able to start writing reviews on Google+ Local. If you’re out and about and simply can’t wait to get home and review, you can tell us all about your chocolaty finds via the Google Maps app on your mobile device.

Each new review you write is a new entry and a chance to win. Google+ Local will be choosing the winners, so don’t forget to make your review stand out from the rest – tell us more than just, ‘they serve good hot chocolate’.

You’ve got until 20 October to win, so get reviewing. Oh, and remember it is chocolate week, so you’re perfectly entitled to eat as much chocolate as you like. I won’t tell anyone, I promise!

Thanks for a great blogpost and for sharing this news – I hadn’t actually appreciated that this was chocolate week, but by total coincidence last night I posted a post on my blog describing the fabulous Edinburgh chocolate tour which my elder daughter and I recently enjoyed. One of the stops on this tour was Coco on Broughton – and indeed a photo of their fabulous Venus nipple (the photo explains all!) truffles appears in my account of the visit here: http://square-sparrow.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/a-chocolate-tour-of-edinburgh-stuff.html
Not sure if this counts as a review, but it’s certainly maintaining the chocolate theme :-)

Great review and I really hope I get to do the chocolate tour one day. If you follow the link in my post and write a review of Coco via Google+ Local, that will guarantee your entry. Good luck!
