Things that made me smile this February

IMG_0832

February seems to have been a bit of a blur and I can hardly believe that it’s pretty much March already. So with that, here’s a few of the things that have made me happy this month.

1. Discovering Meridian crunchy peanut butter and proceeding to spread it on absolutely everything, including the wholewheat bagel above, which I lathered in it. As peanut butters go, this is definitely the best one I’ve ever tried.

2. Having the girls round to my house for pizza and wine after work last Friday. It was so much fun and before we knew it, it was 2am and we were still sitting chatting. It was safe to say there was a few sore heads the following morning.

3. Going for an early walk around Edinburgh Castle on a cold and crisp day. I had a cup of coffee to keep me warm and my music playing – it was a beautiful way to spend a morning.

4. Spotting signs of spring. I left work last night at 5.30pm and it was still light. It feels like forever since that happened.

5. Getting acquainted with my slow cooker. I love it and so far I’ve had no disasters. I’ll be blogging a few recipes in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled if you are a fellow slow cooker lover

Have a great weekend everybody!

Your early morning walk around Edinburgh Castle looks and sounds beautiful! The perfect way to start a day. I’m still waiting to see signs of spring here, although the sun looks a little different these days and it is staying around a little longer :-)

That’s great news Brooke, it’s so nice when the sun starts to hang around for a little longer :-)

I can’t wait for the slow cooker recipes! I love to use it on Sundays, so that I can do whatever all day, knowing dinner is already taken care of. During the week is even better. :)

Thanks Jaclyn! I love to use it on Sunday’s too – it’s so nice to relax during the day knowing that dinner is taken care of x

That early morning walk sounds lovely. It’s too cold for me right now to go out but I can’t wait for it to warm up just a bit, then going out in the mornings will feel really nice. :) I have a slow cooker and I definitely need to use it more!

Thanks Jessica. It’s not my usual walk to work but I had a meeting in town so I took advantage of the opportunity to walk around the castle. It was certainly a different way to start my day x

You reminded me that I need to buy a crock pot ASAP! I’ve heard peanut butter horror stories from expats. I’ll have to keep this brand in mind!

It’s such a good investment Gianni. Mine was £16 from Amazon and it’s one of the best things I’ve bought in a long time x

Aren’t slow cookers amazing, Jenny? I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without one. And yes, February went sooo quickly x

Girls nights are the best, aren’t they? I feel so lucky to have that group of friends that I can just spend hours talking with. I have one friend in particular that we’ve been getting coffee together every single Monday for the past 2 years. My partner is always like “What the heck do you talk about for so long? YOU JUST SAW HER.” But I love it.

I’m really intrigued by your peanut butter discovery! I’m a PB nut but I wonder if we can get Meridian here.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Chiara!

I so love girls nights, I don’t know what I’d do without them! I love that you get coffee with your friend every Monday, that is so cool.

Meridian peanut butter is definitely the nicest I’ve had and it is so good for you – it’s literally just whizzed up nuts and a pinch of salt. I hope you manage to get your hands on some. Have a great weekend x

I love this list! Longer days are so lovely aren’t they? Also, you’ve got me really hungry now – peanut butter bagel – YUM! xxx

    • http://www.wineandolives.co.uk/ Chiara Pannozzo

Peanut butter bagels are the best. I absolutely love them, especially at the weekend when I can take time over my breakfast rather than eat it at my desk like I normally do x

That peanut butter. Just yes. If you can, give the almond one a go too (roasted almonds with a pinch of sea salt). It’s also brilliant! x

    • http://www.wineandolives.co.uk/ Chiara Pannozzo

I’m so with you Laura, the almond butter is amazing too! I’m slightly too addicted to the Meridian nut butters – I can’t get enough of them x

I love my slow cooker – so lovely to have something done for dinner when I get home! I really need to be more adventurous with it though instead of sticking to the same recipes every time.

    • http://www.wineandolives.co.uk/ Chiara Pannozzo

I’m definitely thinking that the slow cooker was a really good investment Gwen. I’m going to try making a tagine in it this weekend – fingers crossed it will work x
