Friday night favourite

imageIt’s Friday and whilst five years ago that would have meant hitting the town straight from work for dinner, cocktails and dancing, my current start to the weekend seems to have mellowed somewhat with the passage of time. Sure, I still love Fridays, but in my thirties, I approach them just a little bit more differently than I did in my 20s.

Most Fridays I have something on. Whether that be visiting family or catching up with friends, free diary slots on this weekend marker are elusive and as a result, beautiful. So when one does become available, it’s an occasion in itself, treated with such care and attention that my evening is planned to within an inch of its life.

It all starts with a quick departure from work and before I can say so much as ‘Happy Friday’, I’m at home in a huge bubble bath with a cocktail in one hand and a magazine in the other. After my bath, I order some sushi and pop a face mask on whilst I listen to some music until my food arrives. What follows is a perfect combination of great food, lovely wine, a movie and chocolate. Always chocolate.

That is my favourite way to spend a Friday night. Is it a sign I’m getting old? I’ll let you be the judge of that. I think a lot of it comes down to how rarely these nights come around and in recognition of that, I place all the more emphasis on them being perfect. Which, to me, they are.

What’s your favourite way to spend a Friday night? Have a great weekend everybody!

I think that this whole thing about spending a Friday in or chilling meaning that you’re getting old is silly. The cool thing about being in our 30s is that we are more aware of what we really like, and we are hopefully less susceptible to fake liking what we feel we “should” enjoy. We want what we want, we like what we like, and we have full lives, so we don’t have to apologize for spending our free time doing whatever feels right :-) the 30s rock :-)

I love that I am not the only one savouring a quiet Friday night from time to time. I used a late hairdressers appointment last Friday to get out of an event and got home, watched entourage and ate picnic food. That’s my dream chill out night at the moment!

That cocktail looks professional by the way. Wanna pop round to mine and make me some? x

That is an amazing friday night! Although I will admit to mixing it up with going out for cocktails. It depends on my mood. But there is NO SHAME in bubble baths. NONE.

I’m still at the drinks and dancing stage of my life I think but every now and then there is NOTHING better than taking some quality me time – I like to make a nice meal and watch a film if I ever have a night off :) x

I think your friday sounds lovely! My Friday nights usually consist of me falling asleep really early for some reason. Saturday nights are the ones that I tend to stay up late working on my blog and art! :D
