Blitz it

I love smoothies. Delicious? Yes. Filling? I think so. Expensive? Most definitely. The convenience of buying cartons of smoothie from the supermarket is undeniable, but yesterday I decided to make my own smoothies for breakfast. So I ask myself again, delicious? Very. Keeps me full until lunch? Oh, yes. Expensive. Not so much. I’m pretty sure that I’ll notice quite a difference in my shopping spend just by making my own. And the best part was it took barely any time at all. I made a berry-based smoothie, with some delicious Alpro Vanilla Soya Yoghurt, which gave it a lovely creamy taste. Here’s the first of many smoothie recipes to come.

Blueberry, blackberry and vanilla smoothie

  • 1 banana
  • 125g blueberries
  • 150g blackberries
  • 5 tbsp Alpro Vanilla Soya Yoghurt
  1. Wash the berries and peel the banana before popping into a blender. Blend for 30 seconds, then add in the yoghurt. Blend again until your have a lump free, delicious drink.

By design, this smoothie is very thick – it keeps me full until lunch time. If you like your smoothie a little thinner, you can add some soya milk to loosen it off a bit. What are your favourite smoothies? Are there any other recipes out there I should put on my must try list?
