August to-do list

1 Comedy is so objective, but hands down the person who has made me laugh the most this year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is Chris Martin. His show, Passionate about the Pointless is showing at the Pleasance until 25 August. Go see it.

2 If it’s a glass of fizz you’re in the mood for, visit the Pommery Champagne Bar in the stunning Signet Library. Enjoy a Champagne afternoon tea, or if you’re in the mood to go all out, opt for the lobster dinner. Open until the end of August, this venue is a haven from the Royal Mile madness.

3 Get lost in a good book. I maybe shouldn’t wax quite so lyrically about Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl when I’m only half way through, but I literally can’t put it down.

4 Put some tea in your gin. My G and Tea cocktail will be your friend on sunny days at barbecues, or brighten your mood when it’s dark and grey outside. The floral straws aren’t necessary but are definitely good for the soul.

5 Eat cake. Visit Cuckoo’s Bakery in the New Town for a delicious cupcake, or if you’re in the city centre raid the wardrobe (yes, wardrobe) of cake at Lovecrumbs. Calorie counters need not apply.

Lot’s of great things to do on here. Must get that book and go and see Chris Martin before the Fringe is over.

I love this list. I’ve heard some people complain about the end of Gone Girl so will not rush out just yet, but I cannot believe I missed your G and Tea post. This is something that M would LOVE so I will check it out and there is always room for cake. What great suggestions.
