Ahoy, matey!

It has been raining in Edinburgh for so many days now, I can’t really remember the last time I saw blue skies. But for the good people of Crail there was a hiatus, giving foodies the chance to eat, drink and be merry.

Testament to the Crail Food Festival, come rain or shine it is a fantastic day. Last year, I left with sunburn. This year, as the rain threatened, I kept a tight hold of my umbrella. But regardless, it was a great day, which showcased the best in local produce. A personal highlight was a Chillilicious sausage. Not only did it taste great, and was much needed after a little too much wine the night before, but it didn’t lie to me on the chilli front. This sausage had a kick. There might not have been sun in Crail today, but there was definitely heat!

Great write up about your visit to Crail Food Festival 2012. Really enjoyed the camera angles too! Glad you enjoyed the sausages which were developed for the Festival by Keith Hutchon at Penman’s the Butcher in Crail, using chillis grown in Fife by the mother and daughter team, Patricia and Stacey, of Chillilicious.

You’ve been so supportive of the event once again this year, interviewing participants; making sure that they got some extra coverage beyond the event itself, and spreading the word about the good food to be found in Fife.

Hope you’ll be back in Crail again soon.

Thanks Katey and Susan. Crail is a lovely place to visit, any time of the year. I’ve really developed a soft spot for this lovely town.
