Afternoon tea at No 11 Brunswick Street

It was the most glorious day in Edinburgh today, not just because the rain stopped and the sun came out, but because there were sandwiches to be eaten, cake to be devoured and Prosecco to be drunk. That’s right, I’m talking about afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea scene has exploded in the UK in the past couple of years. Across the land, people are rallying up their friends and spending afternoons sipping tea and Prosecco whilst working their way through three tiers of treats. And today at Number 11 Brunswick Street, my friends and I did exactly that.

On arrival we were each given a glass of Prosecco and brought some freshly-baked bread and hummus. It was delicious. More bread was to follow by the way of a selection of sandwiches, including flavours such as brie and cranberry and ham and mustard. They were tasty and plentiful.

There was a huge selection of sweet treats on our cake stands. Scones came with cream and jam, profiteroles were stuffed full of cream and topped with oozing chocolate and the carrot cake was moist and nicely spiced.

We really enjoyed our afternoon tea at Number 11 Brunswick Street and would thoroughly recommend it if you’re in the city and looking to over indulge in cakes and sandwiches. After today’s debauchery, I’ll definitely need a few days of green smoothie goodness to get me back on track!

So if the photos weren’t enough to make me salivate, the words you’ve used to describe the eatables (oozing, moist) are more than enough. I’ll definitely be trying this spot for afternoon tea!
